Thai Boxing Class as a Beginner

Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is a kind of boxing, one of the most popular exercises for both men and women nowadays. It helps in the improvement of metabolism, which helps in the burning of extra body fat and calories. It is strengthening your muscles and able to count as one of a self-protection method. It’s also one of the martial arts that can be used for self-defense.


After I gained lots of weight theses lately months, my friends convinced me to go weekly boxing class together with them. There is a small boxing gym that located on Sathon, Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra 7 Alley. Walking distance from Chong Nonsi BTS station is quite long but the gym fee is very reasonable when compared to other boxing gyms in the area.

I warm up and starching exercise then wrap up both of my hands with long clothes that looks like bandage, (coach would do it for you if you do not know how to do it correctly, like me) before wearing punch mitts. All equipment is provided by the gym.

Punches, kicks, elbow strikes, and knee strikes are the most basic exercises for beginners. Coach will instruct you to repeat the exercise and alternate between these basic poses.

A five-round lesson for one day per person, with two coaches, which I swap with friends and other customers (if any). Normally, I am not such a big exerciser. As a result, I’m not as energized as my sweat-soaked friends. After finished the class, there are bruised in the middle of my two legs. It hasn’t caused me any harm if I don’t press it, LOL. However, it lasts almost a week on the skin.


Class fee is 300 THB/ one times, 1,000 THB/ four times and 2,500 THB/ 10 times (with 1 time free). There is bottle of chilled drinking water for sell about 10 THB. All the exercise equipment is no additional fee, already included in the class fee. Let’s do some workout!
