Mango sticky rice is one of the most popular Thai dessert. Due to the flavor of the perfect combination. This Thai dessert is so popular with both Thais and foreigners. In Thailand has been a rice plant since ancient time. Rice and sticky rice have been modified and transformed into a variety of dessert “Mango sticky rice” is one of them.

This dessert is existed since the late Ayutthaya period and continued until the reign of King Rama II. And it was widespread at the end of the reign of King Rama V. Nowadays this dessert is so popular in summer season especially Songkran festival, wherever you go in Thailand in summer there are so many shops sell the mango sticky rice.

The most important ingredient of Mango sticky rice is:

  1. Mango

In Thai traditional recipes used Oak Rong mango but nowadays Oak Rong mango is difficult to buy, and the price is so expensive, so many people like to use Nam Dok Mai mango that also good taste and the price is cheaper.

  1. Moon sticky rice in Thai call “Khao Niew Moon”

We mix coconut milk with sticky rice.

  1. Coconut Milk

We usually eat moon sticky rice topped with concentrated coconut milk that add more salt and sugar.

  1. Golden Bean

We sprinkle by fried golden bean, it can make tastier.

For me “Mango sticky rice” is the best Thai dessert that I want to recommend to foreigners. Because this dessert can show about Thai culture that we are eating rice since long time ago and we can use rice to make variety sweet and savory dishes. If you come to Thailand especially in summer season you must try Mango sticky rice for one time in your life.
